Carolina Batalha is one of the emerging artists selected to preview her solo piece "El luto en negro" during one of the CORA side event nights. The portuguese dancer's work is deeply rooted in her heritage and childhood experiences, emphasizing the relationship between humans and the environment.



BIO

Carolina Batalha was born in Lisbon, Portugal and is a finalist in the Dance degree program at FMH - University of Lisbon and has been admitted to the Master's in Dance Education at the Escola Superior de Dança – IPL. During her studies, she spent a semester at the Akademia Wychowania Fizycznego in Poznan, Poland, and completed a 14-week internship with Movement Lisboa. She volunteered with the Portuguese Red Cross, teaching Creative Dance to young Afghan refugees, an experience that led to her first published article with Professor Dora Carolo in the Scientific Research journal.

As a performer, Carolina has experience in Neo-classical, Contemporary Dance, Jazz Lyrical, and Street Dance, with notable participation in the National Dance Competition and the World Dance Cup. As a performer-choreographer, she has presented various performances in different formats and worked as a teacher-choreographer with various age groups, successfully participating in competitions such as All Dance Portugal. Additionally, she has taught workshops at the University of Lisbon, studios, and academies.
