Miriam Bonaccorso

Miriam Bonaccorso is one of the special guest selected with her piece "Sleep Effect" during CORA Dance Festival. Her artistic research explores contemporary dance and performance practices, viewing the body as a means of connection, transformation, and storytelling, often through a poetic lens.

BIO

Miriam Bonaccorso is a choreographer, dancer, performer, and teacher. She trained at the National Academy of Dance in Rome, later developing her artistic research between Rome and Turin, as well as through a professional development experience with the Mvula Sungani Company.

Over the years, she has worked as a dancer at Teatro Sistina and collaborated with different choreographers and artistic contexts. For several years, alongside her performance practice, she has been teaching contemporary dance and stage movement, working with dancers and actors in a variety of educational and training contexts.

Between 2019 and 2023, she was involved in the productions of the Dare To Share collective, becoming increasingly engaged with collaborative and experimental practices. In 2024, she created The Other Side of Me, a project born from an exploration of the body and identity. The work was awarded and selected for international festivals and was subsequently developed into a theatrical version, presented in different contexts in 2025.

In 2025, she began developing Sleep Effect, continuing her research into hybrid and experimental performance forms. The project was selected for international festivals and residencies, including REDSAPATA (Linz), BAZASPACE (Sofia), and FESTIVAL SOTTOVENERE (Tuscany). The work was also presented in Italy in a work-in-progress format.

Her artistic research moves across contemporary dance and performance practices, exploring the body as a tool for relationship, transformation, and storytelling, often through a poetic dimension. Her work brings together social themes with a philosophical and psychological exploration of the concepts and experiences that she seeks to bring to the surface through her creations.
