Crossroads
2024

At the crossroads of life, we encounter the tensions of choice, the weight of decisions, and the push and pull of converging paths. But it is not in the direction we take, but in the way we move, that we discover who we truly are
A Dance Performance for 35 Dancers
In Crossroads, choreographer Edivaldo Ernesto invites 35 dancers to explore the complex, often overwhelming moment of choice. The stage becomes a map of infinite possibilities, where each movement represents a fork in the road, a decision point, and the uncertain journey that follows. The dancers, bound by the same space yet divided by invisible lines, weave in and out of each other’s paths, creating a dynamic interplay of collision and connection.
Through intricate, ever-shifting group formations, Crossroads reflects the human experience of navigating through life’s major turning points—whether personal, social, or cultural. The work is an abstract exploration of the ways in which we come together, break apart, and find our way forward. A constant push and pull of energies, Crossroads gives voice to the tensions between individual desires and collective needs, the strength found in unity and the chaos that arises in dissonance.
The choreography, infused with sharp contrasts of movement—fluid and rigid, fast and slow, solo and ensemble—highlights the emotional landscape of choice. Each dancer is both part of the whole and uniquely driven by their own direction. As they collide, retreat, or converge, they reflect the essence of humanity at a crossroads: the constant balancing of freedom and limitation, connection and isolation.
