In and out of the doldrums
2025

It is a dance performance that explores the complexities of human connection in today’s hyper-connected world.
Four performers share a confined, everyday space, each isolated, absorbed in their own personal rhythm and ordinary routine. Through initially disconnected paths, a subtle yet compelling network begins to emerge, built from small, everyday gestures.
As the piece unfolds, these gestures evolve into organic connections, unplanned interactions that highlight both the alienation and the silent yearning for communication between the dancers. The choreography gradually intensifies, bringing the bodies closer in space and time, revealing a shared interdependence and a growing dialogue made of movement.
This work invites audiences to witness the possibility of genuine connection, a bond that transcends the monotony of routine and the barriers of digital overload.
It is through surrendering to both inner and outer motion that overlooked relationships can be rediscovered and renewed. With a contemporary language rooted in physicality, "In And Out Of The Doldrums" shines a light on the paradox of our era: a world overflowed with digital contact yet marked by profound emotional distance.
The performance challenges the illusion of constant connectivity and questions the notion of escapism as a true encounter with “the other”.
A compelling journey through isolation, interaction, and awareness, this piece brings to life the fragility and beauty of human bonds, celebrating the subtle, often unspoken, power of being together.
