KicK OFF Sunday

2026

Dario Pio Garella, Anna Giurdanella, Chiara Pelusi

A visceral exploration of football, collective identity, and the violent, primal desire to feel alive.

There is an irreconcilable distance between being alive and feeling alive. A distance that separates the stands from the pitch, the individual from the crowd, society from what we feel. There is a distance that consumes us. It convinces us to bury that impulse. For some, an entire life remains buried. For ultras, it usually takes less than ninety minutes to bring it back to the surface.

A ferocity that belongs to children, in which rage and insatiable euphoria coexist. Football becomes a flag for that desire to live that we have forgotten—a desire made of community, rawness, and defiance—that suddenly erupts, unleashing a ferocity that, there is no denying, we are all capable of.

The match ends in blood. The Curva Nord is cleared. Only the bodies remain to be removed.

It seems that every Sunday is worse than the last. And yet, no one wants to miss this chance. For a moment, that longing for life returns to the present.

Everyone comes back, every Sunday.

Hell.
