Why death was just death
2024

A play with the viewer's perception, with the mind, an overload of stimuli?
The piece addresses themes of depression, death, individuality, and togetherness.
A fragment of text from the book Tokyo Blues by Haruki Murakami serves as another inspiration for the work.
A play with the viewer's perception, with the mind, an overload of stimuli? This work highlights the importance of destigmatizing the depressive process by normalizing a taboo, thus making this generally avoided subject tangible.
The piece was funded in 2021 as part of Distanzen by the Dachverband Tanz. The premiere took place in 2021 at the Zukunst Festival in Berlin, and in 2022, the piece was highly successful at the nah.dran event in the ada.studios in Berlin. In 2024, Leila Patzies revisited the work and extended it from 15 to 21 minutes. The current version was performed in 2024 with the Pieles Permeables Collective at Acker Stadt Palast in Berlin.
