Born in 1995 in Naples, Adriano Bolognino is a freelance choreographer who collaborates with both dance companies and independent dancers.
His work is supported by major organizations such as Orsolina28 Art Foundation and Körper - Italian National Dance Production Centre. He is also one of the choreographers for the opening ceremony of the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games.
In 2024, he received the Danza&Danza Award for Italian Dance Production 2024 Middle Scale for his work La Duse, as well as third prize at the Certamen Internacional de Coreografía Burgos & New York. In the same year, another of his works, Ravel / Into Us - Burning, was selected for the prestigious international Fedora Dance Prize 2025. Previously, in 2022, he was awarded the Danza&Danza Prize as Emerging Choreographer.
His latest creation, Last Movement of Hope / II Chapter - Organi, developed in June 2025, was produced by Körper with the support of the Italian Cultural Institute of Madrid, Centro Coreográfico Canal in Madrid, the Goethe Institut Madrid, and Teatro Comunale Città di Vicenza, where Adriano is an associate artist for the 2025 to 2027 seasons. The studio version of the duet premiered in June at the MODAFE Festival in Seoul, where it won first prize, and had its Italian premiere in July at Bolzano Danza 2025.
During the 2023/24 season, he created Samia, which won the Rüm for Dans co production call and premiered in Sweden in October 2023, in collaboration with Orsolina28, the Italian Cultural Institute of Cologne, Staatstheater Darmstadt Hessisches Staatsballett, and Körper. His 2023 repertoire also includes Yellow for the Rome Opera Ballet directed by Eleonora Abbagnato, Holm Tal Milied? for Zfin National Company Malta, Beija Flor for Kayzer Ballet, SKRIK for MM Contemporary Dance Company, and Divina for Opus Ballet Company.
In 2023, he was also selected for the Crossing the Sea network and for the Big Pulse Visiting Artists project in collaboration with the Biennale de la Danse de Lyon. Notably, his work White Room for Opus Ballet Company, in collaboration with Virgilio Sieni Company, and the duet excerpt Behind You were recognized at the MASDANZA Choreographic Competition, winning both the Audience Award and the Canary Islands Tour Award.
In 2022, his creation Come Neve, commissioned by Nitja Senter in Oslo and co produced with Orsolina28, the Italian Embassy in Norway, and the Italian Cultural Institute of Oslo, was selected by KommTanz and by Danza Urbana Anticorpi XL in 2023.
In 2021, his work Your Body is a Battleground, commissioned the previous year by the Venice Biennale, was selected by Italia dei Visionari and Campania Teatro Festival. Another creation, Rua da Saudade, won the 2021 Orsolina28 Call for Creations and the Cortoindanza 2021 award. His work was subsequently selected for NID Platform 2021, DNA Appunti Coreografici 2021, Twain Direzioni Altre 2021, Certamen Coreográfico de Sabadell 2021, and debuted at the Torino Danza Festival in 2022. His piece Gli Amanti was selected by the European Dance Network Aerowaves and by the Italian network Anticorpi XL in 2021.
Over the years, Bolognino has received numerous awards and participated in many prestigious festivals and platforms, including Belgrade Dance Festival, Venice Biennale, Torino Danza Festival, Festival Aperto Reggio Emilia, Triennale Milano, Bolzano Danza, MilanOltre Festival, Prisma Festival Panama, Interplay Festival, Danza in Rete, DanzaEstate Bergamo, DAP Festival, Cross Festival Verbania, LDIF Leicester, Visavi Dance Festival, Fabbrica Europa, Gender Bender Festival, Dance Days Chania Greece, Kilowatt Festival, OperaEstate Festival, Moving Colors Festival Athens, Danzattack Tenerife, FIDCDMX Mexico, Artissima Festival, and many others.
Bolognino’s collaborations also extend to special events such as the Laura Biagiotti Fashion Show 2023 in Milan, where he worked with étoile dancers Eleonora Abbagnato and Jacopo Tissi at Piccolo Teatro Milano for the Fall Winter 2023 collection, and performed as a soloist for Eleonora Abbagnato at Ferrari Cavalcade 2023.
Alongside his choreographic work, Bolognino is deeply committed to professional training and collaborates with international organizations such as Agorà Coaching Project, DAF Dance Faculty, Kayzer Ballet, Artemente, Vivo Center, and EDA ACT. His path in contemporary dance is marked by continuous learning and collaboration, with the aim of making a positive contribution to the field.
