LEILA MARIE PATZIES - Zone of the unknown

    ZONE OF THE UNKNOWN

    _Workshop_ (6 Hrs)

Zone Of The Unknown workshop invites participants to explore movement beyond form, diving into deep physicality through release technique and skeletal awareness. Drawing from Leila’s research and recent trainings with Judith Sánchez Ruíz Company (PCDCP 2025, 2026), the sessions emphasize dancing from the bones—unlocking the body’s functional architecture to create visceral, embodied movement.
Through guided improvisation, participants will investigate the interplay of presence and absence in shared movement practice. How does the perception of space shift as elements are layered or removed? How do our understandings of boundaries and freedom evolve in an increasingly fragmented society? These questions frame an exploration of uncertainty in instinctive, applied, or reflexive decision-making, revealing new movement possibilities.
Participants will engage in inventive exercises designed to refine spontaneity and precision, seamlessly blending personal movement practices with group improvisation. The tension between optical two-dimensionality and tangible three-dimensionality will be explored through shifting perspectives and embodied response.
Leila’s methodology is rooted in playful engagement and a horizontal teaching approach, empowering participants to take ownership of their learning journey. The workshop welcomes a spirit of curiosity and experimentation, culminating in an intuitive, organic approach to choreography.
